About the event

Swim races have formed part of the annual Whitby Regatta since the early 1900s

The Sandsend to Whitby two mile swim took place for many years, eventually folding due to lack of interest in the eighties.

​

In 2023 Ceri Oakes and Ally Brisby brought back the swim as part of the Whitby Regatta, and introduced a new 1000m race, the 'Beach Hut Swim'
